Lots Accomplished

We've had a busy week and had a lot done...whew! We've been needing to repair and replace a few things around the house and we got some of it done. Got more to do but it feels good to get done what we have so far.

Also, I had the opportunity to make a few cards. I used some new things I recently purchased. I was in a green and blue mood when I made the first two cards yesterday and that was all I could think of ... was green and blue. The first card uses some of them. I used Flourishes Coffee With Friends set as well as the flourish stamp from the SU's Priceless set. Using Old Olive and watercolor paper, Spellbinders Labels One were cut out and embossed. The cup was stamped and paper pieced then raised with pop dots over the steam (flourish). Retired SU designer paper was punched out using the Boho Blossoms punch. Using Night of Navy cardstock, I used the same punch and layered it to the back of the designer punched pieces. A 3/16" circle was punched out of NON and placed in the center of the flowers using pop dots. Kaiser Rhinstones were then placed in the center of the small circle punch. A piece of NON was Cuttlebugged and wrapped with wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon. The base card is Naturals Ivory. The labels and circle piece in the bottom right were pop dotted.

Labels One graduated sizes were used inside with the watercolor piece (smaller one) embossed. It was lightly sponged with Old Olive ink (it's a little hard to see). A similar "button" was created and placed on the right edge with pop dots. The sentiment comes from Verve's Fairy Tales set.

White cardstock is the base for the next card. A piece of wide Brocade Blue grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around a Certainly Celery piece that had been Cuttlebugged using the Dotted Swiss embossing folder and was placed on the base. A scrap piece of BBlue and white were cut out using Spellbinders oval and scalloped oval dies. The white piece was also embossed and raised with pop dots onto the blue piece. Using another piece of scrap of Certainly Celery that had been CB'ed I punched out a butterfly using Martha Stewart's punch (I love this punch!). It was placed on top glueing only the body of the butterfly so you can bend the wings up to give a sense of motion. Three clear Dew Drops were placed underneath the stamped sentiment. A silver circle Hodge Podge Hardware (HPH) with silver brads were placed on the ribbon. A chocolate prima with a smaller white prima were placed in the middle with a light green Kaiser Rhinestone.

This next card was softly watercolored using SU's watercolor crayons and lightly misted with water. The sentiment from Verve's Fairy Tales set was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and the image is SU's Inspired by Nature set using watercolor crayons. Watercolor paper, Old Olive and Close to Cocoa cardstocks were used. The layers were punched using the Ticket Corner punch. Close to Cocoa grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the Old Olive piece. Always Artichoke buttons with rafia were placed on the ribbon. This card gives you a dreamy, subtle feeling.

Blogging Without Obligation

After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation. •Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill. •Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine. •Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing. •Because sometimes less is more. •Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog. •Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone. •Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”. •Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
