F.O.G. 5k Run
We went to the F.O.G. 5k run this morning in Sumrall. It was quite chilly at first but got better as our bodies warmed up. The one in charge, Richie Sumrall, did a great job in organizing it. My time wasn't as good as I would have liked it to be but the clock doesn't lie. N. Raul Anzol took numerous pictures for the Pine Belt Pacers, even WHILE running!! He stopped running during the run to take those pictures you see along the road. I don't know how in the world he did it; but I can tell you this, he did NOT finish last and even won an award!! WOW...what an athlete! We all appreciate you! He and Audrey Jackson compiled the results while the other race workers finished their jobs. My time was 26:41 and my best 5k time so far has been 26:40. So if I was gonna have a different time at least it wasn't that much different. For some reason, I really wasn't up to it this morning, but I enjoyed it anyway. Kent ran and did well, too. His groin muscle is still giving him a lot of trouble. He's been suffering with this pull for the past couple of months. I received the Grand Masters award while Kent got 2nd place in his age group. Everyone also received a door prize...and there were many of them! The best part is that all proceeds went to the Youth Group at Sumrall First Baptist for a retreat this summer. What a great way to give/donate your money! By the way, F.O.G. stands for Followers of God.

Blogging Without Obligation
After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation.
•Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill.
•Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine.
•Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing.
•Because sometimes less is more.
•Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog.
•Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone.
•Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”.
•Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
