First Beautiful Day

Today was a fantastic day in Gulf Shores! We weren't sure it was going to start out that way but it wasn't long before we knew we were wrong. Plans were to get up early, ride our bikes to the Gulf State Park Pier and watch the sun rise. When we woke up fog had infiltrated the area...thick and heavy. So while we were deciding on whether today would be the day we would begin riding bikes as an alternate exercise to running, I saw these amazing scenes and began taking pictures. I hope you like them, too.

In a short time, the sun had burned off the fog and we were able to do our ride. For more details, go here.

After we got back from the ride, we rested a few minutes and re-mounted our bikes and headed out for lunch. A local restaurant has different plate lunches each day. Wednesday is chicken and dumplings and Kent loves them. I love their fried green tomatoes.

The day was so beautiful that as we finished our lunch, we decided to ride down to the beach (about a block away) and check it out. Soon we headed back to the camper, donned our swimsuits, gathered our beach stuff and went back to the beach. At first, I thought it would be wasted time since it would be after noon before getting out there; but it was perfect. We stayed an hour and half and had a great time. We finished with a cool dip in the pool at the Park followed by a "wonderful" shower. Doesn't it just feel great to shower after being greased up at the beach?? A wonderful kind of clean.

Now, off to sit outside to enjoy the afternoon before it gets too late.

Blogging Without Obligation

After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation. •Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill. •Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine. •Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing. •Because sometimes less is more. •Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog. •Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone. •Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”. •Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
