A little hectic now ...

Been running longer runs and better times lately. Decided to run recently without the use of my running watch to see just how long I could run comfortably (slower) before getting tired. So off I went. I ran, and ran, and ran. I understand Forrest now!! I felt so good and didn't want to stop when I did but felt I should for safety reasons. So I stopped after a very long run (for me). We measured the distance with the car and found that I had run 8 miles! I've never done that before and wasn't even tired! There have not been any repercusions from it; i.e., soreness, aches, pains, etc. Maybe I've not been pushing myself enough. So, I'm getting real excited about pursuing a half marathon next year. There's one we would like to go to at Seaside, FL. Don't know if I will be ready, but gonna try to shoot for it. This is getting addictive ... Hope to do another long run next week.

I have some great pictures to share when we had our grandchildren over last weekend. I hope to post those in the next day or two. We had a great time together going to ballgames, being crafty and just having fun in the back yard. They are really growing up - almost the same height as me! Love them so ... check back soon to see the pictures.

I found your blog through SCS (you left me a comment) and when I read this post I just had to leave a comment and say WAY TO GO!! Good luck with the training. I ran all the way through my freshman year of college - I actually was on the Cross-Country team at the Air Force Academy - and I never ran a full or even half-marathon. Boy do I regret it. Now I have gained weight after 3 kids and have knee and feet problems. I hope I can get as motivated as you to really get back into training and DO one!!!!

Blogging Without Obligation

After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation. •Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill. •Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine. •Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing. •Because sometimes less is more. •Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog. •Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone. •Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”. •Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
