After Christmas-ing

Well the Eating Escapades have ended! We've had nice meals throughout this two-month time. And, though I've enjoyed my family get togethers, I'm glad to be getting back to normal. I weighed in at WW this morning and with 3 pairs of pants and 2 tops on (it just turned 40 degrees and I was going to run afterward), I was more than happy with my weight. I would like to maintain the 30 pound loss I've achieved so there are a couple of pounds I need to work off.

Kent and I went to run on the Rails to Trail, Longleaf Trace, last Friday. We wanted to run "the race" that will be held on New Year's Day. Since our running has been sporatic, we wanted to be sure we could finish it. The race is a 12k and we ran approximately 7.5 miles. Not having run a 12k before, this time would be the first of its kind. I completed the run in 1 hour and 17 minutes with seconds (don't remember how many). The weather was perfect and humidity was no problem. The trail is paved and great for running and biking!

I ran 8 miles yesterday and blew away the time I did on the 12k trail the past Friday. Running over half mile more, my time was 1:18:04. This run was up and down hard hills and the Trace is completely flat. I couldn't be more pleased! It is suppose to be 30 degrees on New Year's Day and I've never run in that cold of weather before. This morning I ran a fast 3 miler in a temp of 40 degrees. I'm hoping the temp and environment will be like this morning. It was perfect. As mentioned above, I had on 3 pair of pants and 2 tops; but was more than comfortable when I shed my outer pants. (Hey...get your mind out of the gutter!! I still had on 2 pair!)

I know what you mean by all of the holiday goodies!!! I still want to get one of those Bignets (I think thats how you spell it) at Cafe DuMonde this weekend though. I think I will start fresh on Monday!! Your pictures of the family were so good. Looks like you all had a great time. Were those taken at Haley's? If so, her place looks very nice!!!

You've got to get some beignets! It's totally necessary; that is, if you like powdered donuts! Don't expect to eat "clean". You WILL wear some of it when you leave Cafe DuMonde.

Love ya,
Robbie

Blogging Without Obligation

After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation. •Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill. •Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine. •Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing. •Because sometimes less is more. •Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog. •Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone. •Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”. •Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
