Flourishes Dream Weekend, Feb.21-22

I truly had a "Dream Weekend" at Flourishes in Pensacola, Florida. On Saturday, February 21st, we were honored to have Faith Hofrichter (aka Markie's Mom) and Becca Feeken as instructors for 3 card projects each. Their work is beautiful and exquisite and through their teaching we all came away with cards "almost" as pretty as theirs. Sunday Jan Marie Carruso taught different techniques from other notable card artists. Here are a few of the cards we made.

Jan, Sharon and Nancy did an outstanding job providing everything...and I mean everything! Not a sliver of tape was needed. The meals, snacks and fellowship of newfound friends were wonderful. Many goodies were given out and we were all able to have had the opportunity to have used a brand new Flourishes stamp set not yet released! Wow...what fun and excitement! If it had been up to me and I had had free financial reign, I would have come away with one of everything they sold. If you would like more information, please go to these sites: www.flourishesnewsletter.blogspot.com , wwww.stampinwithmarkiesmom.blogspot.com and www.amazingpapergrace.com .

Jan Marie provided dinner for everyone on Sunday evening. She had chicken and sausage gumbo and red beans and rice. Desserts were great, too! Ladies that were going to attend the Monday COPICs class were also invited. Beate, Jenn, Marianne and many others came and I was excited to meet them. I've admired their work for quite some time. Many others were there; please forgive me if I've left your name out - it is totally an oversight. Here are some pictures I took. Enjoy.....

Such beautiful cards!!! I can't believe how much talent you and all of those ladies have. I love to paint and feel that I am pretty good at it. But, it is usually just duplicating something. You all have such original ideas. Isn't it great to find people that you like and that enjoys the same things you do. Glad you all are home safely!!!

Blogging Without Obligation

After coming across what seemed to be the 4000th or so post on someone’s blog starting with “I’m sorry I haven’t posted in awhile.” I decided it is time to rethink what makes a good blog and the expectations that have come to be part of it. I am thinking that no one should utter those words again . . .and with that thought I give you Blogging Without Obligation. •Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it is a treadmill. •Because its okay to just say what you have to say. If that makes for a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine. •Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing. •Because sometimes less is more. •Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps up the integrity of your blog. •Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link and comment numbers on your tombstone. •Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby. A way to express yourself and connect with others. You should not have to apologize for lapses in posts. Just take a step back and enjoy life, not everything you do has to be “bloggable”. •Because if you blog without obligation you will naturally keep your blog around longer, because it won’t be a chore. Plus, just think you will be doing your part to eradicate post pollution. One post at a time. . .
